10 Most Ironic Deaths In Comics History
1. The Death Of Rorschach
There are many unexpected events that unravel within the Watchmen graphic novel, but it's perhaps Rorschach’s death that comes across as the most surprising.
Rorschach was by no means a likeable character, but he's clearly set up as a polar opposite to the consequentialist Ozymandias. Under these terms, his death represented the triumphant of evil in the face of honorable justice- or at least that's what appeared to be the case here.
In reality, though, Rorschach has actually secretly defeated Ozymandias by leaking his recorded findings on this on-going case and sending them to the press to be published. This all happens, long before he confronts the tycoon at his base of operations, and dies by Dr. Manhattan's hand.
Sure, Rorschach might've missed out on the chance of laughing in Ozymandias' face, but it's doubtful he would've been patient enough to wait for the villain's comeuppance in an unjust world.
Overall, though, the loser ends up winning in the long run because the "winner" lost a long time ago.
