10 Most OVERRATED Comics Of All Time
9. More Than Meets The Eye
When IDW picked up the rights to Transformers in 2005, they brought on the legendary writer of the eighties comic, Simon Furman, to head the book up. Furman produced an epic tale in a new format, telling the tale of guerrilla warfare fought across the galaxy by bots that could change form to fit in on many planets. When the war ended, two new books followed, each named after the theme from the original Transformers cartoon.
Robots In Disguise focused on Cybertron being rebuilt and the political war still ongoing. More Than Meets The Eye followed a ragtag group of adventurers in a rollicking adventure through space as they sought legendary figures from Cybertron's history. To this Transformers fan, MTMTE was the best comic book in their history and is consistently talked about as one of the best comic books of all time.
And yet, you have to ask which version of the comic this applies to. Both the trade paperbacks and second printings of the comics themselves often featured changed dialogue or side-stories that changed the meaning of certain scenes or even retconned the story. This meant that those following week to week were getting an inferior version of the story.
