10 Most OVERRATED Comics Of All Time
10. Watchmen
Watchmen is pretty much the graphic novel that people think of when they talk about comics as an art form.
Praised for its artistic merit and literary themes, Watchmen takes a look at superheroes in a realistic world. It examines the idea of the superhero, and how those under their watchful eye can become complacent, allowing others to guard the fate of their world. Genuinely fascinating to read, we see the start of a brand new type of superhero story in Alan Moore and David Gibbons' comic.
The thing is, for all that it does right, the actual story isn't all that interesting. We start with the murder of the Comedian and then that kind of fades into the background as we follow how different heroes got to where they are now. Besides, the investigation itself seems to just fall by the wayside with all the bits and pieces that are picked up along the way.
Yes, it's all tied up in the end, but for the majority of the issues, that mystery feels like an afterthought.
