10 Most Powerful Characters Killed By Wolverine
3. Jean Grey
If you've ever heard the saying love is pain, perhaps spare a thought for Logan. In the few moments of his long life where he's not been in a feral state, he's found groups that accept him enough that he starts to accept himself. And amongst all those groups has been a woman he's come to love, who invariably meets a tragic end.
With the X-Men, that woman was Jean Grey. At first the object of a forbidden fruit passion thanks to her relationship with Scott Summers, Logan soon found respect for the woman and the combination turned to love. But, you know what they say love is...
Wolvie first killed Jean in New X-Men #148 to save her the agony of burning alive while on an asteroid heading into the sun. As Jean and death have a kind of revolving door arrangement, mostly brought on by her connection to the Phoenix Force, she got better and was subsequently killed by Wolverine another six or seven times (many of them in a single issue).
Even the film versions saw Wolverine ram his claws through Jean's torso to put an end to the Dark Phoenix.
