5. The Sentry
After Robert Reynolds drank an experimental liquid, he gained superstrength and the ability to fly. Believing he was given great power to serve a higher purpose, Reynolds became a superhero called The Sentry.
The Sentry is so powerful, he is the only person to defeat the Incredible Hulk while he was at full strength. If The Sentry put his mind to it, he could probably eradicate crime worldwide.
But The Sentry isn't just powerful. He's too powerful. He is known as the superhero with "the power of a million exploding suns". His wife, Linda, was so scared with the idea of living with a walking supernova, she tried to kill Reynolds by shooting him at point-blank range with an alien gun.
Despite the fact the blast melted his face off, Reynolds survived. This made Linda more terrified of him since she had no idea how to stop him if he turned evil.
Petrified that he would misuse his abilities, Reynolds repressed all of his negative emotions, which indirectly created an evil persona within him called The Void. If Reynolds has a moment of weakness, he will turn into The Void, who could cause destruction on a cosmic level.
