10 Most Powerful Incarnations Of Superman

7. Kingdom Come Superman

Superman Prime One Million
DC Comics

In Kingdom Come, Superman is an older and more bitter man, who no longer works as a superhero. Ten years prior to the events of the book, the Joker flooded the office of the Daily Planet with a toxin, resulting in the deaths of everyone, including Lois Lane.

At his trial, a new "hero" named Magog kills the Joker, and when he's embraced as a hero by the public, Superman is disgusted. He retreats to the Fortress of Solitude and leaves his hero work in the past. He's eventually coaxed out of retirement by Wonder Woman, though, he's unwilling to let things slide as he had in the past.

The new crop of heroes who showed up around the time of Magog needed to be taught a lesson or two, and Superman reformed the Justice League with many of his old comrades so they could address the state of the world, which had been without a Superman for far too long.

This version of Superman is stronger than most due to the fact that he's older, wiser, and less willing to put up with all the shenanigans of the younger generation. He has all the same powers as he did in his youth, but his age and experience give him the edge over younger Supermen.
