10 Most Powerful Incarnations Of Superman
5. Superman Red & Blue
The 1990s were a strange time for comic books, and one of the weirdest storylines to hit the DC Universe came in the form of a Superman Red/Superman Blue event in 1998. In the story, Superman was deprived of his powers generated by the sun, so he developed energy-based powers instead.
He needed to change his wardrobe into a blue and white containment suit, which kept his energy from dispersing, and it worked well enough to keep most of his original abilities and continue to beat up bad guys. It all went a bit haywire when Cyborg Superman set a trap, resulting in Superman being split into two distinct beings.
Each one believed themselves to be the original Superman, though they were distinct aspects of Superman's personality. Superman Red was rash and decisive, preferring to jump into action rather than take time to come up with a solution to a problem.
Superman blue was the opposite, as he was more cerebral and willing to engage in dialogue rather than fight. Despite the odd confusion of splitting Superman into two people, his powers spread across both beings were elevated considerably. His energy manipulation abilities outclassed most of the DC Universe, though he, fortunately, returned to his normal self after less than a year.
