It might surprise you to learn that Kraven the Hunter has a family - but it won't surprise you to learn that they've taken up the family business.

While Vladimir Kravinoff was not quite as powerful as the High Evolutionary, the emotional toll of killling his prized pupil made this one of Kraven's most difficult fights to date. Written in 2010 by Joe Kelley and pencilled by Michael Lark and Marco Checchetto, this is Grim Hunt: The Conclusion.

Trained by his father, Vladimir was endowed with superhuman strength and an arsenal of cutting-edge weaponry. Even so, he still fell short of Spider-Man, and was arrested after trying to kill him. When he broke out, seeking revenge, he ran into a much more menacing arachnid instead - the sinister Spider-Clone, Kaine. Unlike Spider-Man, Kaine showed no mercy, and Vladimir was killed.

Later, after Kraven's resurrection, the Kravinoff family attempted to do the same for Vladimir, only for something to go horribly wrong. Vladimir had been brought back not as a man, but as a feral, lion-like beast known as the Grim Hunter. Disgusted with what his son had become, Kraven stabbed Vladimir in the neck, putting an end to his chosen successor.
