Nekron, the Lord of the Unliving is a manifestation of death, and rules over the black portion of the emotional energy spectrum, and the dead, reanimating them with black power rings to wage war against the living, with the intention of ending all life.

Nekron's been a recurring villain since 1981, but his most iconic story is undoubtedly Blackest Night. In this massive crossover event, every dead hero came back, and attacked their former allies, while Nekron attempted to claim every hero who had ever died.

Blackest Night provided some of DC's creepiest moments, like Black Hand licking a human skull, and Black Lantern Aquaman commanding zombie sharks and carrying his dead infant around, but the most iconic panel had to be Nekron banishing The Spectre, and proving that the Wrath of God has no effect on him.
