10 Most Twisted Comic Book Heroes

1. Homelander

Midnighter Bloody
Dynamite Entertainment

To the public, Homelander is a beacon of hope in dark times, he's someone who sacrifices his own well-being to protect the weak. To anyone who knows what he's like behind closed doors, he's a monster.

Homelander is a lesson of how absolute powers corrupt absolutely. Created the Vought Corporation as the "perfect hero," he is anything but. Sure, he stops bank robberies, saves people from destruction and even inspires though who look up to him. But, in the shadows, he commits terrible crimes that range from murder to sexual assault.

The reason he's like this is because he wasn't raised to be a hero - he was raised to take on the presence of a hero. He was never taught compassion, love or even patience. He was taught to only be a product that makes money for his creators. Because of this, when he was thrown into superhero tasks, he was terribly unprepared.

For example, he was supposed to stop one of the planes during the 9/11 attacks but with a lack of proper abilities, he accidentally sends the craft into the water, killing everyone on board. He even managed to accidentally kill fellow superhero Marathon in the process.

Eventually, Homelander begins to see how weak and frail the human race is and decides that he should rule over them. And you thought Brightburn portrayed the most terrifying version of Superman...
