10 Most Unexpectedly Powerful Marvel Villains

7. M.O.D.O.K.

Stilt-Man Punisher
Marvel Comics

Look at this guy. Just look at him. Is he not the most ridiculous-looking giant floating face you've ever seen?

M.O.D.O.K. looks like he should be a minor villain in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, rather than a major player in the Marvel Universe's rogue's gallery. Don't let his overwhelmingly silly appearance fool you, though: he is an overwhelmingly dangerous villain.

First of all, you need to understand that M.O.D.O.K. actually stands for Mental/Mobile/Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing. From there, we can begin to understand why this guy may have a bit of a bad reputation.

M.O.D.O.K. was created by the villainous Advanced Idea Mechanics, or AIM for short. Their goal was to create the ultimate killing machine that would enable them to conquer the entire world. In doing so, they were actually a little bit too successful: M.O.D.O.K. was so incredibly powerful that he was able to enslave AIM themselves.

Over the years, M.O.D.O.K. has come to represent the antithesis of Captain America. While Steve Rogers was a soldier who had his strength amplified in order to serve truth, justice, and the American way, M.O.D.O.K. began life as a scientist who had his brain power amplified, well, Only for Killing. Because of this, Captain America holds a special place of pure hatred in M.O.D.O.K's heart.

Equipped with superhuman intellect and psionic powers, if you see this giant grotesque head floating your way (and how could you miss it?), you know you'd better run.
