10 Notable Career Changes Of Famous Comic Book Characters
9. Diana Prince Department Of Metahuman Affairs
Before Infinite Crisis, Wonder Woman was forced to get her hands dirty when she snapped Max Lords neck to free Superman from Lords mind control. The worst part was that the murder was broadcast across the world for everyone to see. With her reputation ruined and her friendship with Superman and Batman damaged, Wonder Woman retired her identity to sidekick Donna Troy and reverted to her previous secret identity Diana Prince. As Prince, she joined the Department of Metahuman Affairs and assisted them fighting super powered threats for a year. During one adventure, Circe cast a spell on Prince turning her into a powerless human being. Although Circe later reversed the spell, she secretly cast a second one on Prince that would make her a normal human in the Prince role, but give her back her powers when being Wonder Woman. Eventually Prince returned to being Wonder Woman altogether. Although superheroes will assist the government when fighting evildoers, its less common for them to join a government organisation; especially someone as powerful as Wonder Woman. Its like if Thor were to go back to his secret identity of Donald Blake and join S.H.I.E.L.D. Still, it gave Diana an opportunity to work with humans in a more direct capacity and helped her realise how important being Wonder Woman was for her. Yes, she committed a questionable act, but after a year of retiring her superhero identity, she was able to come back not only with her friends glad to see her return, but with a better understanding of what living among humans was like.
