A villain called The Hate Monger dressed in a suspiciously familiar looking robe? Not the most subtle of villains – especially after the later reveal that he is, in fact, a clone of Adolf Hitler – which would be really crazy anywhere but in comics, where folks are cloned as often as they eat sandwiches.
Really, the weirdest thing about the Hate Monger is the frequency with which he showed up in comics – having more than thirty appearances in under forty years, which is actually a pretty large number for a relatively minor villain.
Sure, seeing Hitler in a comic where he totally didn’t need to be in it is always an uncomfortable kind of experience – especially because The Hate Monger did at one point wear a gold full body mecha battle-suit, which you may find yourself permanently unable to unsee after glimpsing.
