10 Outdated Superhero Costumes In Desperate Need Of A Redesign

Martian Manhunter has had a few costume changes in recent years, so it’s not so much that any specific costume is outdated than it is the overall concept holding him back.

For one, as a Martian, he has a less solid design even without the costume coming into play. Some artists have made him a huge great Thanos like creature, while in other versions he’s svelte and lithe. His head too changes from scaled and lizardlike to cueball round, and at certain times looks resembles an American football stood on its end. They really need to pick one and stick with it.

The red X across his chest causes issues too. Sometimes he wears nothing beneath it, sometimes only parts of the cross section is exposed and sometimes he wears the X over his clothes. Occasionally he covers it up with an impressively imposing black tunic/jacket, but that has since gone and was often tossed aside in battle anyway.

The thing to remember is that Manhunter is stronger than Superman and is supposed to have a noble, commanding presence. His costume just doesn’t show that, he needs to go back to the drawing board to become more cohesive.
