10 Pairs Of Characters From Different Franchises With The Same Name

8. Scarecrow (DC & Marvel)

Scarecrow Marvel's Scarecrow is a blatant rip-off of DC's Batman rogue of the same name and is nowhere near as interesting a character as his DC counterpart, despite the obvious similarities. He first appeared while working as a contortionist in a circus - initially helping Iron Man to apprehend a criminal - but he decided to use his skills for criminal purposes in an attempt to get rich quickly from thereon in. In addition to his obvious athletic and acrobatic abilities, Scarecrow is also injected with a pheromone that gives him slightly superhuman strength and a healing factor (as well as the ability to inflict fear in others, like the character he is clearly based on) and he also has the ridiculous ability to control crows, which he uses to carry out a variety of tasks, including attacking his victims en masse and killing them. The original (DC) Scarecrow is a much more interesting character. He is Dr. Jonathan Crane, a psychologist who uses a variety of drugs and psychological tactics to exploit the fears and phobias of those who stand against him. He is also adept in physical combat, using a style called "violent dancing", based partly on the crane style of kung fu and on drunken boxing. He was able to wield a Sinestro Corps ring in the Blackest Night storyline, thanks to his ability to induce fear in others.
