10 Powers Comic Book Characters Only Used ONCE

8. Sandman - Possession

Doctor Doom
Marvel

At first, Sandman was pretty straight-forward. He could turn into sand. That's it. But his power evolved over the years, allowing him to grow giant in size, turn into mud or glass, and split into dozens of Sandmen.

But in one single issue, he revealed a new power he should use a lot more often. In Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man #17, Sandman poured sand into a prison guard, allowing him to control his body.

There are so many advantages to this ability. Sandman could hide in the body of an innocent civilian so no one could detect him. He could take over Captain America and kill the rest of the Avengers or blow up their headquarters. If he possessed Spider-Man, Sandman could make the wallcrawler take off his mask to the world, exposing his secret identity.

Instead, Sandman used this power once on a random guard to walk out of prison. Also, possessing this guard was pointless since he used his sand-powers five minutes later, giving away his identity. If he wasn't going to try and hide, why did Sandman possess the guard in the first place?
