10 Reasons Why Flame Con Is Awesome

4. Attendees Looking For New Things

Flame Con 2017
DC Comics

Attendees of the show seemed to be actively looking for new comics and ideas. And especially new pins.

Yes, enamel pin badges seem to be the hot item of comic cons everywhere now, and Flame Con was no exception, and those who had delightful, funny or beautiful new pins on their tables found them flying out of stock faster than a fidget spinner about a month and a half ago.

Similarly, attendees also seemed to be keeping their minds open to trying out new, unheard of comics, zines, art and more from unknowns or new creators, and not just looking for the big names to sign that issue of Justice League of America they've kept in their plastic sleeves ready for a good ol' CGC certification once scribbled on in Sharpie by the writer and/or artist.

Having gone out with 40 copies of my book, fully expecting not to sell them all, it was surprising to find at the end of the weekend there were just four copies left.

The audience at Flame Con are more open to trying new things, which is really what all comic con attendees should be like, because you never know when you're going to find that book you love and feels like it's made just for you, or that next big name comic creator you can say you found first.
