10 Reasons Why Flame Con Is Awesome

3. Inclusiveness

Flame Con makes a concerted effort to be as accessible a con as possible.

You can see it on every sign of the con, and especially those as you enter. Flame Con's own branding includes both male and female mascots, and a wheelchair using mascot too. Signs discuss how to go about taking cosplay photos acceptably, taking into account the cosplayer's personal comfort in having their picture taken and/or published online, and staff actively sought to make things as accessible for everyone, regardless of sexuality, gender identity or level of mobility.

They even provided handy pronoun tags people could opt to wear that would help denote, wordlessly, their desired pronouns, or indeed if they would prefer those engaging them to ask them about their pronouns.

It was all together a concerted effort to make for an event and an atmosphere that made everyone feel welcome, no matter how they identified.
