4. Athletic Prowess

Being a hand to hand fighter is an excellent attribute for any crime fighter, but if you can’t be hit, you can let that side of your crime fighting repertoire slide a little. A common trait in every Robin to wear the tights is that all have perfected an ability to jump rings around criminals. Nobody exemplified this more than first Robin, Dick Grayson.

With his circus background, Dick Grayson has always been able to "flip" rings around Bruce in a gymnastic sense, and Batman has often commented on how this has led to a more fluid, adaptable fighting style than anything he himself is capable of mustering.

By taking advantage of Dick's high-flying abilties, Batsy trained Robin to be the target man. Primary colours and a bouncing fighting style taking all the gunfire while the Dark Knight moved in for the kill.

Clever yes, caring? not in the slightest. It's a credit to the athletic ability of Dick Grayson that being a human bullseye each night hasn't ended in serious injury - or worse, another costume hung in the Bat-Cave. Not all of the Robins have been so lucky.
