10. Magneto

Estimated wealth: $0.5bn The master of magnetism isn't too shabby when it comes to other precious metals, either. The X-Men's sworn enemy is fuelled by his tragic childhood spent in a Nazi concentration camp, and his determination that no such atrocity can ever happen again. His wounds were probably salved a little, too, by the huge hoard of Hitler's gold that he retrieved from Nazi supercriminals Hydra whilst galavanting around Israel with his then-BFF Charles Xavier. That gold no doubt helped to fund the early years of Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants, but the real reason he scrapes a net worth of half a billion will be because he owns a frickin' country. Gifted to him by the UN because they thought it might shut him up for a bit, the African island of Genosha was presided over by Magneto for years...until it was completely destroyed and made inhospitable, which means he could soon be tumbling off this list to be replaced with Thor or someone. Just as soon as we figure out the exchange rate for Asgardian gold.
