10 Secrets Hidden In Famous Comics

2. Iron Man's Resignation Letter - Iron Man #127

An unabashedly weird example of office politics slipping into Marvel's own comics, Iron Man #127 managed to accidentally publish the real resignation letter of artist Dave Cockrum instead of the letter supposedly written by Jarvis when he quits working for Tony Stark.

The letter is essentially Dave pouring his heart out about his concerns about the company and the office environment, which is exactly why it stood out so much as not fitting in the story itself - and why it seems so surreal and Marvel would sign off on having it publically published.

The motivation behind this is decidedly murky, with it being unclear if it was a genuine mistake, or whether - as many suspect - that the letter was included to berate Cockrum, who would continue to work for Marvel, just in a freelance position.

What is sure is that this decision was not one that the entire Marvel creative team made, as two issues later David Michelinie issued an apology to readers, stating that he hadn't liked it and would be ensuring nothing like it would happen again.
