10 Shocking Times Comic Book Heroes REFUSED To Help

2. Sentry's Agoraphobia Kept Him Out Of World War Hulk ... For A While

The Amazing Spider-Man #50
Marvel Comics

Robert "Bob" Reynolds, otherwise known as Sentry, is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. His power has been described as equating to the "power of one million exploding suns." His abilities are pretty much immeasurable, and for many decades, he fought alongside Earth's mightiest heroes.

Eventually, he had to erase the memory of himself from all of humanity with Reed Richards & Dr. Strange's help, and he only "returned" in 2000's The Sentry #1. He is insanely powerful and possesses powers of molecular manipulation, universal manipulation, enhanced... everything, and much more.

When the Hulk began his rampage across the world in his hunt of the Illuminati, Tony Stark went to Sentry for help. The Hulk was at his highest level of strength and power, and nobody could stop him, so Sentry was really the only person on the planet who had a chance.

Unfortunately, Bob suffers from crippling agoraphobia, so when the call came to come and help, he did try, but he couldn't bring himself to leave the house. For some time, he apologetically refused to help defeat the Hulk, telling Stark, "It's the agoraphobia. Some days it's... I can't... Sorry, Tony. You'll have to handle this one yourselves."
