10 Shocking Times The Joker Died
9. Talia Al Ghul Shot Him - Batman: Legends Of The Dark Knight #142-145
In Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #142, Ra's Al Ghul allied with the Joker, believing he could use his Joker Venom to poison society, culling the population to a more reasonable number. Although Ra's was impressed with his partner's plan, the Joker suddenly turned on him, stating that he knew Ra's would betray him.
The Joker sprayed him with the Venom, only to learn that Ra's had an immunity to the contagion. His daughter, Talia, shot the Joker repeatedly before the pair left their headquarters with the virus.
By the time Batman located the League of Assassins' hideout, Ra's was gone and the Joker was dead.
Realising that the Joker was the only one who knew where Ra's was going, Batman has no choice but to save his deadliest foe. He submerged the Joker in the Lazarus Pit; the same energy pool that allowed Ra's to cheat death for centuries.
After he was revived, the Joker's insanity subsided, allowing him to feel remorse for all the evil he committed over the years. After he helped the Caped Crusader locate Ra's and dispose the contagion, the Lazarus Pit's effects wore off, causing the Joker to revert to his usual psychotic self.
