7. Hulk Taps Into His Savage Side To Beat Onslaught - Onslaught: Marvel Universe (1996)

Terrified he could misuse his psychic powers if he lost control over his emotions, Charles Xavier sealed away every negative thought into the far corners of his mind. Decades later, these dark thoughts formed into Onslaught - a psionic entity set on destroying everything Xavier cherished.

After Onslaught launched a worldwide assault , every superhero (and several villains) banded together, hoping to defeat the godlike tyrant. Despite having the combined might of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men, no one could make a dent in Onslaught's impenetrable armour, not even the Hulk.

Because the Hulk's intelligence decreases the stronger he gets, Bruce Banner theorised he would be unstoppable if the intellectual part of his brain was deactivated. Bruce then asked Jean Grey to use her telepathy to turn off his humanity.

With Bruce Banner no longer in the driver's seat, he became a mindless but far stronger version of the Hulk called The Savage Hulk. With his unquantifiable strength, the green-skinned monster was able to tear Onslaught's armour, allowing the other superheroes to defeat the psionic creature once and for all.

Although Bruce Banner saved the day, it's ironic how his ingenious plan relied on turning himself into an idiot.
