10 Spider-Man Fates Worse Than Death

4. Losing Everyone Who Gets Close To You

One of the hardest parts about being Spider-Man, at least where Peter Parker is concerned, is constantly putting loved ones in danger. He only jumped into the superhero game after his inaction led to Uncle Ben's death, but that was hardly the only person close to Peter to die.

Not long after he lost Ben, he held Captain Stacy as he died. The man's last words were a plea for Pete to protect Gwen, but you know what happened to her. A quick snapping of the neck and she died. Pete "lost" his mentor, Dr. Curt Connors, to his Lizard transformation, and the list goes on.

Harry Osborn ended up losing his sanity to become a supervillain. There are more stories about Aunt May being sick and near death; she deserves a list of her own. Of course, there was the time she was shot by a sniper, and that led to Pete losing his marriage.

Granted, he didn't lose his marriage in a traditional way — he had his entire romance with Mary Jane completely undone by Mephisto. Basically, becoming Spider-Man may have granted "great power" to Peter Parker, but it arguably ruined his life and cost him everyone he's ever loved.
