10 Spider-Man Fates Worse Than Death

5. Being Buried Alive

For most folks, being buried alive is high up there on the list of top fears, and for a good reason. It's a horrible way to go, but for Spider-Man, it's not the same as it would be for a normal person. That's especially true, given what happened when he was tossed in the dirt for a bit.

During 1987's "Kraven's Last Hunt," Kraven sets out to finally take down the 'game' that had eluded him for so many years. He hunted down Spider-Man, defeated him, and shot him dead. He then placed the Web-Slinger's corpse into a grave and cosplayed as Spider-Man for a bit.

While pretending to be Spider-Man, he brutally attacked criminals and managed to take down Vermin, who Spidey was only able to defeat previously with Captain America's help. He didn't do much to help Spider-Man's reputation during the TWO WEEKS he was buried alive in a coffin.

Yes, it took two weeks for the tranquilizer to fully wear off, so Pete could crawl zombie-style from his grave. He found Kraven, who didn't put up a fight, though he did release Vermin to beat the crap out of Spider-Man once more. The story ended with Kraven's suicide, having finally achieved his goal, though Spidey was left to pick up the pieces of his ruined life.
