10 Spider-Man Graphic Novels You Must Read Before You Die

9. The Gauntlet And Grim Hunt

Spider Man Death Of Jean Dewolff
Marvel Comics

Two for the price of one here, which may seem like a bit of a cheat but as both stories exist because of the other then they can't really be separated. Besides, with the number of villains that were on show it's no surprise that it took 26 issues of The Amazing Spider-Man to cover all the bases.

The widow of Kraven The Hunter, Sasha (The Hunter?), decided it was time to resurrect her fallen love but to achieve this she needed a blood sacrifice. Filled with hatred for everyone's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, she chose Peter Parker to give up his life so Kraven may live again, but he first needed to be weakened.

The Gauntlet covered this by seeing her send nearly every member of Spidey's rogues' gallery after him, including the likes of Rhino, Vulture, and Morbius, as well as some unusual ones in the shape of Juggernaut and Deadpool.

Even though the web-head did win in the end, he found himself pushed to the limit as he entered the Grim Hunt.

Here, and along with the rest of the Kravinoff family, Sasha would try to end Spider-Man and in doing so, bring the big game hunter back to life.
