In the year 2099, the Marvel Universe enjoyed an increase in the number of superpowered people, and they all resembled the heroes of the 20th century. Miguel O'Hara became the Spider-Man of the year 2099 after his DNA was mixed with that of a spider.

O'Hara was different from his 20th-century counterpart in a number of ways, which made him stronger and more powerful than his predecessor. For one thing, his powers were more closely attuned with those of a spider's natural abilities, and instead of magically sticking to all surfaces, he had razer-sharp claws extending from his fingerpads, which served to attach him to walls, but they also worked well as built-in weapons.

More than that physical difference, he gained a telepathic ability, which gave him the power to send messages into the minds of anyone he wanted. The OG Spider-Man had his Spidey-Sense, which was a form of telepathy, but he was never tapping into anyone's thoughts like his successor did a century later.

Superpower differences are one thing that set the two apart, but there's something Miguel has that Peter Parker didn't, and it was a plethora of advanced technology from the 22nd century. O'Hara could travel through time, and he had a suit made of unstable molecules, which was far superior to Pete's old reliable spandex.
