10 Stupid Arguments About Batman That Don't Make Sense
6. He's The Best Member Of The JLA
Grant Morrison's defining run on JLA in the early nineties suggested that, whilst the rest of the team could be defeated using sheer strength by most comers, Batman's brain would always put him on top.
Mark Waid did a similar thing with his iconic Tower of Babel storyline, which came not long after Morrison's time on the book. In it, a supervillain takes advantage of a set of fail-safes Batman had set up, each of which are designed to perfectly incapacitate any and all of his supposed friends.
The ever-paranoid Caped Crusader set up all of these methods of essentially beating up his team mates just in case any of them ever went rogue. Which is where you realise that Batman is far from the best member of the JLA.
The rest of them have a mutual respect and trust for each other, knowing that they can take on any threat together, and always have each other's backs. That's not a respect or trust that the Dark Knight feels for any of them. He's not a team player - at least historically - so how can he be the best?
