Although Natasha Romanova is an Avenger and served as the team leader, she dedicated years of her life as the assassin, Black Widow. Her death toll is in the hundreds, maybe thousands. However, her most depressing kills are also the most personal.

When Romanova was trained in the dreaded Red Room, she became friends with a girl called Marina. Marina was sent on a mission where she had to gain intel in Cuba while living undercover with her boyfriend. When she fell in love with her partner, Marina decided to quit her life as a spy. The Red Room had other plans and ordered Black Widow to kill her. Knowing that she would be terminated if she didn't carry out her mission, Black Widow tracked down her best friend and put a bullet in her back.

As horrible as that sounds, it gets worse. When she was a child, her home caught on fire, trapping her entire family inside. With no way out, her mother hurled Romanova out of a window moments before the house was consumed by the flames.

Although she assumed the blaze killed her family, Romanova found out years later that her brother, Vindiktor, survived. Believing that she left him to die, Vindiktor vowed vengeance on his sister. She tried to reason with her sibling but realised that he was blinded with rage. Left with no other choice, Black Widow put down her own brother.
