10 Superheroes Who Have Committed Murder

Batman Kills A Man
DC Comics

Some DC fans don't like how Batman is depicted as a murderer in the films because he has a No Kill Rule in the comics... apart from all the time he has killed. Even in his debut comic, Batman punched a criminal off a ledge, which caused him to fall to his death.

In his first self-titled issue, Batman hanged a mental health patient from his Batplane. In one issue, the Caped Crusader killed a man by throwing him into a sword. Two issues later, he pushed a statue on top of criminals, crushing them to death.

Now, some fans would point out that Batman didn't officially have a No Kill Rule until the 1980s. And that's true... but he still kept killing! In a 1988 story, Batman squashed a gangster with a car in a junkyard. He found this method of disposing of criminals so effective, he did it again two years later.

One of Batman's darkest moments is when he boarded up a room with the supervillain, KGBeast, locked inside. Batman left him with no way out and without informing anyone of his location. This was later changed so a line was added in about “phoning the police".

In the critically-panned All-Star Batman and Robin, the Dark Knight let a bunch of thieves burn to death at a dock while he was busy making out with Black Canary. In this same story, he starved Robin and forced him to eat rats to stay alive.

Considering how many people Batman has executed, it's a mystery why DC Comics still emphasises his No Kill Rule.
