10 Superman Fates Worse Than Death

2. Becoming A Supervillain

In the Injustice video game and comic series, the Joker administers a Kryptonite-laced fear toxin into Superman's bloodstream, forcing him to see his greatest fears. When his pregnant wife, Lois Lane, was in front of him, he absolutely believed she was Doomsday and so hurled her into space, killing her and his unborn child. Because Lois' heartbeat was linked to a nuclear bomb in Metropolis placed by the Joker, her death detonated it, destroying the city.

After losing his wife, his child and his home in one fell swoop, Superman snapped and punched a hole through the Joker's chest. To ensure no one suffered like the way he did, Superman elected himself as the highest authority on Earth. When his old teammates questioned his extreme measure, Superman had them imprisoned or killed.

Although he was manipulated to kill Lois and destroy Metropolis, Superman consciously took the lives of his former allies, making him a murderer. Kal-El insists his actions are justified but he knows that Lois would be ashamed of him since he has become the very evil he swore to fight against. Because he could never undo all the damage he's caused, this version of Superman seems beyond redemption.
