10 Superman Fates Worse Than Death

1. Outliving Everyone On Earth

Under a red sun, Kryptonians like Superman are indistinguishable from humans. But under a yellow sun, the solar cells charge Superman's body, giving him powers like flight, superstrength, freeze breath, and optic lasers. Even if Superman is heavily injured, he will heal at superspeed so long as he is in the proximity of a yellow star. Not only does the solar energy repair Superman's cells but it stops them from ageing, allowing him to live far beyond a regular Kryptonian's lifespan.

So, how long can Superman live for while exposed to a yellow sun? Well, depending on what comic you're referring to, it could be a century, millennia, or millions of years. In Mark Millar's Superman: Red Son, Superman lived to be over a billion!

There may be no conclusive answer but there is one thing that is for certain - Superman will outlive everyone he's ever cared about.

What's worse is that's the best case scenario! If he brings world peace, hangs up the cape and retires with Lois Lane, he's still going to outlive her and all his childhood friends, family, work colleagues, and teammates. For such an inspirational superhero, Superman is ironically set for a cripplingly depressing existence.
