The Legion of Super-Heroes are DC's preeminent futuristic property. Situated in the 30th and 31st centuries, the series follows what is effectively the Justice League of the future as they fend off against all sorts of threats, the foremost being the Fatal Five. The likes of Superman and Supergirl have both had brief excursions into the future to serve with the Legion, but for the most part the team have remained relatively undisturbed by mainstream DC continuity.

Be that as it may, they've not been able to avoid the usual cycle of reboots and relaunches that has captivated the industry for decades. With the added Sci-Fi focus that came from these various reboots, it was only natural that inspiration would be taken from different sources, with Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek a clear influence in certain respects.

This is why it was something of a pleasant surprise to find out that the two series had intersected a few years ago. Written by Chris Roberson with art from Jeffrey and Philip Moy, the comic was set towards the end of the Enterprise's five-year-mission and showcased the crew - led by Captain Picard - team up with the Legion.

It almost reads like a lost episode of The Original Series, and is sure to delight Legion fans and Trekkies alike.
