Hank Henshaw was a poor mans Reed Richards. After the space shuttle he and his crew were on board crashed - due to a mix of experimenting on radiation in space and a solar flare - Henshaw, his wife, and his crew became went all Fantastic Four. Not much good can come out of cosmic radiation and space shuttle crashes, and rather than being blessed with sweet superpowers Henshaw saw his physical body died as his skin melted off his skeleton. Gross. Fast-forward a few years: Superman was dead, and four other guys in blue pyjamas were running around saving Metropolis. One of them was a cyborg who claimed he was Superman reborn, the result of the hero's body being pieced together and revived with technology. And...people kinda believed him. Cyborg Superman played the part well, and he certainly looked similar, even with the Terminator augmentations. It turned out we were all suckered when Cyborg destroyed Coast City and was revealed to be Hank Henshaw in disguise. Having blamed Superman for the destruction of his mortal body, Henshaw's consciousness jumped from server to server like a vengeful computer virus, hell bent on destroying the reputation of the Man Of Steel. Eventually his plans were thwarted when the real Superman returned, but the twist still left the comic community jarred.
