10 Most Surprising Reveals In Comics

6. Under The Red Hood

Jason Todd was the tragic Robin. He didn't have the combat skills of Dick Grayson or the intelligence of Tim Drake - but what he did have was a ton of rage and teen drama. Unfortunately that didn't make him a good fit for the pixie boots. In a historic move DC published a story that left Robin's life in the hands of the readers, who voted overwhelmingly in favor of killing Robin. DC sent the Joker as their avatar to beat the kid with a crowbar and blow him up for good measure. For years this event defined Batman. It was his greatest failure, and he was constantly reminded that he could never fall that short again by displaying Jason€™s costume in a glass case in the Batcave. Decades later, a lunatic in a red motorcycle helmet started killing off Gotham€™s less scrupulous citizens, and it was only a matter of time before Batman figured out who exactly was under the hood. In a rare moment in Batman comics, the fans found out the mystery before the Dark Knight did. Midway through the story, the Red Hood tracked down the Joker in an abandoned circus and launched into a vicious attack on the Joker€™s face with a crowbar. Only after taking off his helmet and asking Joker "How did that feel?" did the audience really peg who the Red Hood was - and the special kind of hell that was coming Batman€™s way.
