10 Surprisingly Good Licensed Comic Books
8. Judge Dredd/Aliens
Crossovers with movie characters aren't the sole preserve of major American publishers. The face of British comics, Judge Dredd, has had his share of encounters with Hollywood over the years.
From two movies of varying quality to several crossovers with the likes of the Predator and Mars Attacks!, none of these events would take place in the pages of either the Judge Dredd Megazine or the 2000ad.
Then came the Incubus storyline and all bets were off. Published as a stand-alone mini-series by Dark Horse in the states, this storyline ran in the pages of the weekly 2000ad in Britain, written by long time Dredd writer John Wagner with assistance from then editor Andy Diggle.
The sprawling metropolis of Mega-City One becomes infested with a Xenomorph horde, and it's up to the Judges, led by Dredd, to stop the billions of deaths that would likely follow.
Unlike most American comics, Judge Dredd is not afraid to cull large swathes of the population if it helps the story. Incubus was one of the few times readers got to see the full power of the Alien menace, and the story as a whole is well put together.
