When Peter Parker comes home one day, Aunt May introduces him to his parents, Mary and Richard, who were supposedly dead for years. His parents explain they had been imprisoned for most of Peter's life and had escaped recently.

Two years after this revelation, Peter discovers his "parents" are robots built by Spider-Man's oldest foe, the Chameleon. When Chameleon confronts the wallcrawler, the shapeshifting spy points out he was also the mastermind behind Kraven burying Spidey alive during the Kraven's Last Hunt saga. What does this epiphany have to do with anything? Absolutely nothing.

Just when you though this story couldn't get more convoluted, it was revealed two years later (again) that this scheme was the brainchild of Norman Osborn. This twist was made all the more confusing since the reader assumed Osborn died 20 years ago.

Even though Osborn knew Peter's secret identity and could use that knowledge to expose him to the world, the deranged industrialist thought it was more sensible to have the Chameleon build two robots in his parents' likeness. Osborn has a reputation for unnecessarily complex schemes but this is one of the dumbest.

However, it's not the worst...
