6. Red Robin Kills

None of the Teen Titans came out of “the Culling” unscathed, but Red Robin, aka Tim Drake, fell apart and betrayed the core tenant of his training with the Dark Knight. Just before Teen Titans Vol. 4 # 8, the team had been defeated by Harvest, an agent of N.O.W.H.E.R.E. Omen, amnesiac former Titan Lilith Clay, and another agent of the nefarious organization captured Red Robin. She tortured the hero and used her mental powers to make him believe that she was turning him into a bird-like creature.

Tim awoke strapped to a table while Omen used her abilities to torture other members of the Teen Titans. Harvest re-emerged to taunt Red Robin about his inability to find and save Superboy, and reminded Drake that he was a leader despite his protests. In his next torture session, Tim used the wings of his costume to slash the blind Omen across the heart, killing her.

Red Robin woke back up on the table, with an alive Omen standing over him. It had all been an illusion. But the point is that Tim Drake, who Nightwing had called the Best of the Robins, had been pushed to kill. Tim betrayed Bruce’s most sacred rule. And that made him and the team ready to be Harvest’s New Ravagers.
