It's easy to think with seeing all these major motion pictures of comics properties that this is a good way to become a millionaire. The reality is far from it.

Comics aren't going to make you rich. Just throwing that out there right away.

Sure you have your Mark Millars and Robert Kirkmans who have made a mint now, but you have to remember the incredible deals they've managed to get with their work, and it took them a long time to get here.

As I mentioned earlier, making comics can be costly, and for the longest time you will probably find you are making a net loss. But if you love making stories and this is your passion, it can be worth it.

But that's not to say that you will become a multimillionaire from it. Those that have pulled that off are few and far between, and it's often worth baring in mind that a number of creators who even work for big mainstream publishers like Marvel or DC are actually, if not working on multiple books, are also working other jobs or gigs to supplement the income received from comics.

This could be working in other creative fields, like writing novels or for TV, but it can also be something completely different.

So if your only goal with making comics is to somehow become massively rich... well, you may want to sit down and think about why you want to make them again.
