10 Things DC Comics Want You To Forget About Batman

9. He Hates Punk Rock With A Vengeance

If it weren't for the ridiculous story the pictures are telling, Batman: Fortunate Son would be remembered as one of the ugliest comics DC ever put out (and by the usually reliable Gene Ha, too). Thankfully, there's a lot more terrible substance to go along with the lack of style. Batman and Robin investigate the disappearance of a Elvis-like musician who's gone off his rocker, but really what Batman and Robin do is investigate the Dark Knight's utter disdain for all forms of rock music. Seriously, at times he seems more upset with it than his dead parents. Whilst Isaac, the rock star in question, trips balls and treks across America, Bruce Wayne and his ward cruise around in the Batmobile arguing about the value of rock music, Bats being of the opinion that - no joke - all rock 'n' roll is bad, it makes people unhappy, it's for stupid people, and that it will drive you insane and make you kill people. The scene where he discovers Joe Chill was inspired by Bon Jovi's You Give Love A Bad Name presumably happened off-screen. There's a good reason DC have never bothered to reprint this book.
