10 Things DC Comics Want You To Forget About Batman

8. He's The Goddamn Batman

Not that that's the most insane depiction of Batman we've been treated to over the years. No, that dubious honour goes to Frank Miller. Or at least, the Frank Miller we have nowadays, the original Frank Miller having been abducted by aliens at some point in the mid-90s and replaced with a lunatic conservative doppelganger. His All-Star Batman & Robin, with superstar penciller Jim Lee, still hasn't technically finished, and from the looks of it DC has stopped even pretending it ever will. Supposedly set in the same universe as Miller's seminal Dark Knight Returns (and much-less-seminal Dark Knight Strikes Again), the All-Star Batman is an unrepentant psychopath who swears like a sailor, kidnaps Dick Grayson immediately after his parents' death and forces him to forage for food in the Bat Cave, then slaps Alfred upside the head when he dares to give the orphan burgers instead of rat guts. Whoever this Batman belongs too, it's not DC. The series was widely derided and is only ever mentioned amidst snorts of derision (as this entry was written).
