10 Things DC Comics Wants You To Forget About Robin

9. The Existence Of Stephanie Brown

Poor old Stephanie Brown. For our money she was victim of one of the most tragic deaths in the history of DC Comics, and yet so many people don't even know who she is - let alone that she was once a Robin. Stephanie debuted in 1992 as an amateur crime-fighter called Spoiler, daughter of B-list Batman bad guy the Cluemaster who went out of her way to muck up her dad's villainous plans. Hence the name! Spoiler, see? He was in prison for most her childhood and came out claiming to be reformed, only for her to stumble across his evil activities and furiously put a stop to them. That's some strong crime fighting motivations right there. No being orphaned by a mugger, but we can't all be so lucky. After that storyline wrapped up Stephanie was kept on as a supporting cast member in the Robin solo book, where she was an on-again, off-again love interest for the Tim Drake incarnation of the Boy Wonder. She even had a pregnancy scare one time which was...interesting. Anyway, despite that she soon became a fan favourite, to the point that slotting her into the Batman sidekick role once Tim abandoned it made perfect sense. To everyone apart from DC, anyway. Stephanie was made Robin for all of two issues before being killed off in the controversial War Games storyline. People were pretty peeved she had lasted for such a short time in the role, and were even more furious when Batman didn't honour her with a costume in the Bat Cave, in the same way he did with past Robins Jason Todd and Dick Grayson. They nearly forgot to put her on that Comixology list and all. Stephanie has since been resurrected but her brief period as the Boy Wonder has been totally expunged from history. Which sucks.
