10 Things You Didn't Know About Doctor Strange

5. He Is Often Confused With Several Other Characters

As a character Doctor Strange is regularly confused with a number of other characters from various sources of fiction - not least his own Marvel comic books namesake. You see, Stephen Strange wasn't the first character to go by the name Doctor Strange in the Marvel universe. There was actually a villain who very briefly appeared before him with the same name. However, there are many more characters with whom he is regularly mixed up. So, with that in mind, he should not be confused with the Nedor Comics character Doc Strange, Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove, the Batman villain Professor Hugo Strange or Doctor Strangefate - the character created for Amalgam Comics when Doctor Strange himself merged with Professor Xavier and DC's Doctor Fate. Other related points worthy of note are that Strange's popularity was a key factor in Hugo Strange going largely unused by DC for several decades, while he was also the Inspiration for The Venture Bros. character Dr. Orpheus - who looks very much like Marvel's flagship sorcerer. All of this confusion has nothing to do with the fact that a lot of his fans are potheads, incidentally...
