8. There's Also A Green Lantern "Corpse"

As well as the more well-known Green Lantern Corps, there is also a secret black-ops branch of the force known simply as "The Corpse". The Corpse were actually founded by a rogue Guardian and commanded by Von Daggle - a Durlan with shapeshifting powers. They are an elite, top-secret division and the vast majority of Green Lanterns don't even know they exist. They are not restricted by the same rules that standard Green Lanterns have to follow and the members have to perform the darkest, most dangerous missions. Instead of using the traditional Power Rings, members of the Corpse have to swallow special coin-like disks that give them all of the powers of the standard ring, but only for a limited time. These disks produce purple energy instead of the traditional green. The most well-known Green Lantern to have been recruited into the Corps is undoubtedly the hot-headed Earth-based Guy Gardner.
