10 Things You Didn't Know About Nick Fury

1. The Original (White) Fury Has Been Retired By Marvel & Replaced With His (Black) Son

The aforementioned Nick Fury, Jr. in the previous entry on this list is now the main version of the character in mainstream Marvel comic book continuity. In 2012, Marvel retired the original white version and replaced him in every sense with his son - and he looks a lot more like Samuel L. Jackson than his Dad did. Originally called Marcus Johnson, Nick Fury, Jr. is the son of the original Nick Fury and a lady called Nia Jones. Nia Jones was a former CIA agent who met Fury when the pair worked together on a mission against HYDRA, destroying one of their bases in Czechoslovakia. He works alongside the newly introduced comic book version of Marvel Cinematic Universe character Phil Coulson and, along with Coulson and Maria Hill, formed the S.H.I.E.L.D. version of the Secret Avengers with Hawkeye and Black Widow. He has fought against such threats as al-Qaeda in the 616 universe and looks set to become an important part of Marvel's comic book future.
