Thanos is essentially Titan's equivalent of one of Earth's mutants and, as a result, he has a load of powers. Thanks to the fact that he's a genius, Thanos also often comes up with schemes that would cause powerful foes immense trouble even if he wasnt incredible powerful by default. They generally involve an ambition to acquire items that allow him to rule the universe, such as the Cosmic Cube, the Infinity Gauntlet and the Heart of the Universe. His genius is such that it's almost a superpower unto itself. But he also possesses a load of powers even without such item-based augmentation. Physically, he is a complete beast, possessing superhuman strength even greater than that of the likes of Hulk and Thor. He is also durable enough to completely shrug off all out physical attacks from the likes of the Silver Surfer. He is also very quick not necessarily in terms of his travel speed, but in terms of his reflexes. This was evident when a faster-than-light Silver Surfer attacked him and he was able to react to the attack and defeat the Herald of Galactus with ease. He also possesses a plethora of esoteric powers and abilities such as telepathy (at a level that allows him to hold off psionic attacks from the likes of Moondragon), teleportation, powerful energy blasts, the ability to manipulate various types of energy and matter transmutation.
