A lot of the power Thanos demonstrates on a regular basis is augmented by technology and/or magic and he often uses powerful items like the Infinity Gauntlet, Cosmic Cube and Heart of the Universe to amp himself further - sometimes to omnipotent levels - but the fact is that he is very powerful even without any external means aiding him. The people of Titan aren't, by default, anywhere near as strong, durable or powerful as Thanos - and that's because he was born with a genetic condition known as "the Deviant Syndrome". As well as making him superhumanly strong and tough and granting him a plethora of powers (which have previously been listed in this article), it also rendered him a less than attractive baby - as you can see from the picture.
