10 Things You Didn't Know About Thor

9. He's Not The Only Thor In Comics

Unlike the likes of Captain America, Iron Man and Hulk, Thor isn't an original creation of Marvel's. He is taken from ancient Norse mythology and, as a result, obviously can't be copyrighted. As a result, other comic book companies have come up with their own versions of the character, off the back of Marvel's success with him - albeit portraying him very differently. DC Comics have their own version of the character. In fact, there are a couple of versions of Thor in DC. The New Earth version is essentially a red-haired version of Marvel's Thor, fighting on the side of good with similar powers to the Thor everyone knows. The Earth-Two version - also red-haired - is actually "Fairy Tales" Fenton. Fenton is a college-professor-turned-gangster who, in 1942, attacked New York City disguised as Thor and went by his name with his gang disguised as Vikings. He appeared in Neil Gaiman's Sandman. Image Comics also have a flame-haired version of Thor - but their version is a villain. However, none have attained the popularity or recognition of Marvel€™s version of the God of Thunder.
