10 Things Every DC Comics Fan Forgets About Sinestro
5. The New 52
After the Flashpoint, when the DC Universe found itself rebooted into the New 52, Sinestro found himself with a Green Lantern ring once again. The Guardians saw it as an opportunity for Sinestro to redeem himself. With the help of Hal Jordan, he disassembled his own Sinestro Corps. At one point, the Indigo Tribe forced an Indigo Ring on Sinestro but Jordan was able to get them to free Sinestro into his custody.
The Guardians have turned and instructed Black Hand to kill Jordan and Sinestro. As they felt their energy waning, they fused their rings together and sent it off for help. The pair was banished to the Dead Zone. There they encountered deceased Green Lantern Tomar-Re who asked them to stop Volthoom, the First Lantern.
Sinestro was able to escape, acquire a green ring and returned to Korugar to prepare to battle Volthoom. The entity consumes the hopes and fears of the people and destroys the entire planet. Sinestro is discovered in the rubble by Star Sapphire and White Lantern Kyle Rayner. Rayner is unable to resurrect the planet with his power and Sinestro reclaims his yellow ring and goes off to gain his revenge.
